The crash occurred at 3:45 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway in Montville, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.
The driver lost control, ran off the roadway to the left, and struck a guardrail. The tractor trailer continued forward, jackknifing, and coming to a final rest in the right shoulder and grass area next to the right shoulder.
As a result, the right and left lanes were closed for approximately four hours, cutting into the morning rush. The driver suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries and was taken to nearby hospital.
